Alkorplan Touch: What It Is, Finishes, Benefits, and When to Choose It

Alkorplan Touch is the premium line of textured reinforced vinyl sheeting from the German manufacturer Renolit. Unlike the classic Alkorplan sheet—which has a smooth surface and uniform color—the Touch finishes feature a textured surface layer with color patterns that mimic natural finishes such as stone, sand, wood, or mosaic. The result is a lining that combines the technology and durability of reinforced PVC with the premium appearance of traditional finishes.

What sets Alkorplan Touch apart from classic Alkorplan?

Three technical features distinguish the Touch line:

1. Embossed textured surface: The top layer features micro-embossing ranging from 0.1 to 0.3 mm, which creates a natural feel and reduces gloss. It is also slightly slip-resistant, a feature particularly useful on stairs and pool decks.

2. Non-uniform color patterns: While classic Alkorplan offers solid colors (a single shade throughout the sheet), Touch features veining, speckles, and color variations that mimic natural stone, sand, or wood grain.

3. Reinforced thickness: The Touch line typically comes in thicknesses ranging from 1.8 mm to 2.0 mm (compared to the 1.5 mm standard for classic Alkorplan), providing greater mechanical strength and better performance in extreme climates.

Finishes Available in Alkorplan Touch

The Touch line has expanded considerably since its launch. The most popular finishes in Spain are:

Touch Tropical: Caribbean blue tones with light veining. The most popular choice for modern family pools.

Touch Origin: natural stone effect in gray and sandy tones. Ideal for pools integrated into natural settings or Mediterranean-style landscaping.

Touch Vanity: warm sand and beige tones. Highly sought after in villas on the Costa del Sol and Costa de la Luz.

Touch Prestige: dark gray with silver veins. A contemporary finish, commonly found in modern and minimalist homes.

Touch Elegance: sandy white with soft veins. Provides maximum brightness and a classic Mediterranean look.

Touch Soul: deep blue with subtle speckles. For pools seeking chromatic depth.

Each finish is also available in a slip-resistant “Slip” version for specific areas such as stairs, pool decks, and access ramps.

When should you choose Alkorplan Touch over the classic version?

If you’re looking for a premium look: Touch is the option for customers who value the final appearance over cost. The texture mimics natural finishes that a smooth sheet cannot achieve.

If you have children or need a non-slip surface: the Slip versions of the Touch finishes significantly reduce the risk of slipping on stairs and wet areas. For pools with heavy use by children, it’s the safest option.

If you want to hide imperfections in the pool basin: the Touch texture better conceals small irregularities in the concrete surface than the smooth sheet, which clearly highlights them with its uniform sheen.

If you’re renovating an old mosaic-tiled pool: the stone or sand effect of the Touch finishes creates an aesthetic continuity with the traditional Spanish setting that smooth tiles cannot achieve.

Price Difference

The additional cost of Alkorplan Touch compared to classic Alkorplan ranges from 15% to 25%, depending on the finish. For a standard residential pool (8x4 m), this amounts to an additional 1,000 to 2,500 euros. It is an investment that significantly improves the aesthetic result and provides functional benefits (slip resistance, mechanical strength) without compromising durability.

Service Life and Warranty

Alkorplan Touch has the same stated service life as the classic line: 20–25 years under normal use and maintenance conditions. Renolit offers a 10-year commercial warranty on both lines. The textured surface layer is also protected against abrasion by a transparent thermoplastic coating.

Certified Touch Installers

The installation of Alkorplan Touch requires installers with specific certification due to the complexity of the pattern matching (the finish motifs must align at the welded seams) and the specialized welding techniques required for textured surfaces. At ArgPiscinas, we are Renolit-certified installers for the entire Touch range.
