Warranties for reinforced liner compared: Renolit Alkorplan, Cefil and Elbe
The warranty on reinforced liner is one of the most important — and least understood — criteria when choosing brand and supplier. A 10-year warranty does not mean the same thing across all brands: exclusions, maintenance requirements and claim processes vary. In this article we compare the real warranties of the three dominant brands in Spain.
Renolit Alkorplan (Germany)
Warranty period: 10 years on watertightness, 5 years on color stability.
Coverage: manufacturing defects, breakage from material weakness, delamination of internal layers, loss of mechanical properties.
Main exclusions: accidental punctures, damage from misuse (sharp objects, furniture), use of incompatible chemicals, water pH outside 7.0–7.8 range, installation by non-certified personnel.
Requirements for warranty to apply: installation by Renolit-certified installer with written certificate, product registration through distributor, water maintenance with compatible products, retention of installation receipt.
Claim process: customer reports the problem to installer, who manages claim with Renolit. Technical inspection of product. Resolution typically within 30–60 days.
Cefil Pool (Spain)
Warranty period: 10 years on watertightness in Stylefilm range, 5 years on color.
Coverage: manufacturing defects, spontaneous breakage, layer delamination.
Exclusions: similar to Renolit. They expressly exclude damage from water temperatures exceeding 32 °C on a prolonged basis.
Requirements: installation by Cefil-authorized installer, documented maintenance, product invoice.
Claim process: similar to Renolit. Being a Spanish manufacturer, response times tend to be slightly faster (15–45 days).
Elbe Pool (Germany)
Warranty period: 10 years on watertightness, 7 years on color stability (longest on market in this aspect).
Coverage: manufacturing defects, breakage, premature discoloration beyond acceptable range.
Exclusions: similar to previous. Less commercial presence in Spain can complicate claims on small residential pools (better structured for communal pools and projects).

Watertightness period: all brands tie at 10 years.
Color period: Elbe wins with 7 years. Renolit and Cefil offer 5.
Commercial network in Spain: Renolit leads by far, followed by Cefil. Elbe has less coverage.
Finish catalog: Renolit has broadest range (classics + Touch + Slip + Xtreme). Cefil has good mid-range catalog. Elbe focuses on professional range.
Material price: Cefil tends to be 5–10% cheaper than Renolit. Elbe sits at mid-high range.
Exclusions causing most claim rejections
In practice, most warranty claims rejected by manufacturers are due to these four reasons:
1. Incorrect chemical maintenance: pH outside range for extended periods. The most common cause of premature color damage. Solution: record chemical measurements monthly.
2. Installation by non-certified personnel: companies that are not official installers often lose manufacturer warranty even if work is technically sound. Always verify your installer is certified by the chosen brand.
3. Use of incompatible chemicals: certain aggressive cleaners, concentrated acids or disinfectants not specific to reinforced liner can void warranty.
4. Lack of documentation: warranty requires specific documentation (invoice, installation certificate, registration form). Without these documents, claim can be rejected even if defect is real.
