Actual installation time for reinforced liner: days by size and complexity

One of the first questions we receive before contracting is: how long does reinforced liner work take? The answer depends on five factors: pool shell surface area, geometric complexity, condition of the previous surface, time of year and special elements (stairs, overflows, lights). In this article we give real timelines based on hundreds of installations executed by ArgPiscinas in Andalusia.

Standard timeline by pool size

For conventional residential pools with proper surface preparation:

Small pool (up to 30 m² of lining, typical 6x3 m or 5x4 m): 3–4 working days. This type is fastest because welds are few and geometry is simple.

Medium pool (30–60 m², typical 8x4 m): 4–5 working days. This is the most common size in Andalusian single-family homes.

Large pool (60–100 m², typical 10x5 m or 12x6 m): 5–7 working days.

Very large pool or with structural stairs (more than 100 m²): 7–10 working days.

Communal pools with perimeter overflows: 10–15 working days.

Infinity or spillover pools: 8–14 working days, depending on overflow complexity and dimensions.

Breakdown by phases (standard 8x4 m pool)

Day 1 — Draining, removing previous lining and cleaning

The pool is drained (4–6 hours depending on volume and pump flow) and the liner, loose paint or unusable mosaic tile is removed. A structural inspection is performed to detect cracks or areas needing repair.

Day 2 — Repair and surface preparation

Cracks are repaired with specific mortar, the surface is leveled where necessary and anchoring profiles (stainless steel or PVC) are placed around the entire perimeter.

Day 3 — Geotextile and pattern layout

The geotextile is laid over the entire pool shell and the reinforced liner is pattern-laid (pieces are cut and positioned over the surface according to previous plans).

Day 4 — Hot welding

All joints between pieces are welded with a hot air machine. This is the most technical and critical phase. Each weld is verified with a test probe to ensure correct heat penetration.

Day 5 — Sealing joints, installing accessories and filling

Perimeter joints are sealed with manufacturer's liquid, skimmer and jet frames are installed, and filling begins with the filtration pump running.

The pool is operational by the end of day 5.

Factors that extend the timeline

There are six situations that can add days to the work:

1. Pool shell with structural cracks: repair with hydraulic mortar or resins requires setting times of 24–48 additional hours.

2. Complex geometry: pools with pronounced curves, freeform shapes or non-right angles require more pattern work and more welds.

3. Structural stairs: each incorporated staircase adds between half a day and a full day of specific welding.

4. Perimeter overflows: spillover pools with perimeter channel require special welds around the entire upper perimeter, adding 2–4 days.

5. Premium Touch finishes: pattern layout must match chromatically at joints, requiring extra planning and usually adding 1 day to the timeline.

6. Adverse weather: heavy rain or temperatures below 5 °C prevent welding. In Andalusian winter this rarely happens, but can occur.

When to schedule the work

In Andalusia the optimal window for work is October through April, avoiding months of intensive use. Schedules fill especially between February and May (clients wanting the pool ready for swimming season). We recommend reserving a date 2–3 months in advance to guarantee availability.

Can the pool be used immediately after?

Yes. Reinforced liner requires no curing periods or structural waiting times. Once filled, water chemistry adjusted and the filtration system purged, the pool is perfectly usable. Unlike mosaic tile, where you must wait for complete grout setting (5–10 days) before use, reinforced liner offers immediate operability.

Guarantee on timelines

At ArgPiscinas we work with firm timeline in contract. If the quote states 5 days, it is 5 days except for structural unforeseen events discovered during work (which are communicated to the customer with additional quote before continuing). Transparency on timelines is part of our commitment to the customer.
