Getting Your Pool Ready for Summer 2026: The Complete Guide

Getting Your Pool Ready for Summer 2026: The Complete Guide

The season starts now

With the arrival of spring, thousands of homeowners in Andalusia and the Levante region are starting to ask themselves the same question: Is my pool ready for summer? The answer depends on what you do in the coming weeks.

At Argpiscinas, we’ve been preparing reinforced liner pools in Seville, Cádiz, and along the entire coast for over a decade. This guide summarizes everything we’ve learned.

1. Thorough visual inspection

Before starting the pump, inspect the liner from end to end. Look for unusual wrinkles, discolored areas, or small tears near the overflow channels. A properly installed reinforced liner lasts 15 years, but a minor problem caught early costs ten times less than one that’s ignored.

2. The filtration system

Check the sand filter or cartridge filter. If the pressure gauge reads more than 0.5 bar above normal operating pressure, it’s time to perform a complete backwash or replace the cartridge. The pump should circulate the total volume of the pool at least every 8 hours.

3. Water Balance: The 4 Key Parameters

  • pH: between 7.2 and 7.6. Outside this range, chlorine loses its effectiveness.
  • Free chlorine: 1–3 ppm. Add chlorine using tablets or a salt system.
  • Total alkalinity: 80–120 ppm. Stabilizes the pH.
  • Calcium hardness: 200–400 ppm. Protects the pool liner and equipment.

A complete water analysis takes no more than 5 minutes using test strips. Do this before adding any products.

4. Cleaning the Walls and Bottom

Scrub the walls with a brush and use a manual or automatic vacuum cleaner for the bottom. Invisible algae start as a thin film in the corners—don’t let them spread.

5. Electrical and safety check

Check that the ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) and ground connection are in good working order. If you have underwater lighting, check the cable glands. For pools used by children, check the safety net and the condition of the steps.

Need professional help?

If it’s been more than two seasons since your last professional maintenance, or if your above-ground pool is over 10 years old, a technical inspection can save you a lot of trouble in the middle of a heat wave. At Argpiscinas, we offer comprehensive maintenance with guaranteed results.
