Reinforced liner in Chiclana de la Frontera
Pool repair and refurbishment in Chiclana de la Frontera
Is your pool losing water, shedding its gresite tiles or showing cracks and chips? Patching is usually temporary. We install RENOLIT ALKORPLAN reinforced liner: a new, fully watertight surface that covers the damage in the old pool shell.
We work exclusively installing RENOLIT ALKORPLAN reinforced liner, from our base in Chiclana.
What is wrong with your pool?
Each symptom has its cause, and nearly all of them the same way out: stop patching the lining and replace it with a continuous one, hot-welded in place.
The pool is losing water
The bucket test tells a leak from evaporation: if over 24 to 48 hours the pool drops more than a bucket of water standing on the first step, there is a leak. When it sits under the lining, patching hides the symptom, not the cause. Reinforced liner seals the whole shell, and skimmers, jets and lights — where leaks come back most often — are sealed in the same job.
Reinforced liner in old pools · How to diagnose cracks and leaks
Tiles are falling off or the joints have turned black
The bedding mortar loses its grip through cycles of heat and cold, and once the tiles start to fall the process speeds up. The porous joints hold algae and dirt that chemicals never fully remove. Fixing loose tiles costs 300 to 800 € and rarely settles it; the liner is laid over the prepared shell and covers the damaged gresite.

Cracks and chips
Cracks can be superficial or deep, and deep ones bring a risk of leaks. Before lining, they are repaired with specific mortar and the surface is levelled. On top, the reinforced liner, flexible and hot-welded, absorbs the shell's small movements without cracking.

The liner is torn or faded
A liner loses colour and feel after years of chlorine and sun, and since it has no inner reinforcement, a tear is not repaired: it is replaced. We replace it with reinforced liner, at least 1.5 mm thick, with a polyester mesh, hot-welded panel by panel.

Polyester pool with blisters or black stains
It is osmosis: water is absorbed into the laminate and forms blisters under the gel-coat. The reinforced liner is laid over the fibreglass shell and creates a new watertight barrier that keeps the laminate out of contact with the water.

What happens in your swimming pool every day?
Day 1 — Emptying and removal
Empty the bath and remove the existing lining: liner, loose paint or unsalvageable tiling. Carry out a structural inspection to identify cracks and areas requiring repair.
Day 2 — Repair and preparation
Cracks are repaired using a specialised mortar, the surface is levelled where necessary, and perimeter anchoring profiles – made of stainless steel or PVC – are fitted.
Day 3 — Geotextiles and pattern-making
The geotextile is laid out over the entire reservoir and the layout is planned: the cutting and arrangement of the panels on the surface, in accordance with the preliminary plans.
Day 4 — Hot welding
All joints between panels are welded using a hot-air welder. This is the most technical stage: each weld is checked with a test probe to verify penetration.
Day 5 — Sealing, fittings and filling
The perimeter joints are sealed using the manufacturer’s sealant, the frames for the skimmers, jets and spotlights are fitted, and the pool is filled.
How much does each type of cladding cost?
Indicative prices for 2026 for an 8 × 4 m swimming pool, with a total surface area of around 68 m² (including the base and walls). The total costs are higher than simply multiplying the square metre price, as they include the excavation, ground stabilisation and structural frames.
| Coating | 8 × 4 swimming pool | Per m² | Service life |
|---|---|---|---|
| Painting | €1,500 – €3,000 | €12–18 | This should be repeated every 2–4 years |
| Liner | €3,000 – €4,500 | €35–50 | 8–12 years |
| reinforced liner | €4,000 – €6,500 | €50–70 | 15–20 years or more |
| Gresite | €5,500 – €9,000 | €70–100 | The most expensive repair in the future |

Why the coast is hard on a pool lining
Salt-laden breeze, long summers of strong sun and sandy ground near the beach: Chiclana's climate is demanding on any lining.
Salt air
Reinforced PVC does not corrode in a salty environment, unlike mortars and paints, which crack.
Sun
RENOLIT ALKORPLAN membranes carry UV treatment and a lacquer layer that protects the surface.
Ground
In sandy areas such as La Barrosa or Sancti Petri the ground can settle; the flexible membrane absorbs those small movements without cracking.
The 2024 drought and pools
On 8 February 2024 the Guadalete-Barbate Drought Management Commission banned filling and topping up private pools in 40 municipalities of Cádiz, Chiclana among them. In May it set the conditions for filling them again: with recirculation, and only to replace what is lost to evaporation, filter cleaning and water quality; a leak was not on that list. By an order of 10 April 2026, the regional government declared the drought over in the basin.

The job, before summer
In the first half of August 2023 Chiclana reached 241,568 people, almost three times its 87,000 registered residents. The pool gets its heaviest use exactly when it can least afford to be out of action: the job, 3 to 5 days plus filling, is planned before the season.

Leandro is a very professional person! We recommend him wholeheartedly. He is helpful, explains everything clearly and gives good advice. His colleagues are very friendly too. Everything was done as agreed and the work area was left spotlessly tidy every day. We would hire him again any time! Thank you very much!

What people ask us before signing up
How long does reinforced liner last on a coast like Chiclana's?
Between 15 and 20 years or more — the lifespan in the linings table — with a 15-year watertightness warranty. Reinforced PVC does not corrode with salt air, unlike mineral linings.
Can reinforced liner go over my pool's gresite?
Yes. It is laid over the prepared shell — gresite, paint or concrete — with a geotextile underneath, and it covers the damage in the old lining; whatever cannot stay is removed.
Does the pool have to be emptied?
Yes: reinforced liner is installed on a dry shell, and once finished the pool is filled with the filtration running.
How long does the job take?
A standard residential pool is ready in 3 to 5 working days, depending on the size of the shell and the fittings to renew. A community pool takes longer.
Do you work with owners' associations?
Yes. We prepare the detailed quote the owners' meeting needs; a community pool takes longer than a residential one.
Shall we do it in your swimming pool?
Using the measurements of the pool and a description of its condition, we’ll draw up a no-obligation quote. Official RENOLIT ALKORPLAN installers in Chiclana de la Frontera, Cádiz.
