— There are large areas of bubbling under the liner indicating widespread lack of adhesion.
— Problems are detected in the joints of special pieces (brackets, corners, fittings) that require disassembly and professional resolution.
— The liner has exceeded its useful life (generally 10-15 years for quality liners, although high-end ones can last longer).

Temporary solutions: are they recommended?

There are liquid waterproofing products on the market that promise to seal leaks without draining. They are applied with a roller or brush over the surface, even underwater in some formulations. They are useful as an emergency measure to control water loss while organizing the definitive repair, but should not be considered permanent solutions.

The problems with these products are their low durability (1-3 seasons at best), their difficulty in uniform application without draining and the possibility that they mask more serious structural problems.

Professional vs. DIY: can I do it myself?

DIY underwater repairs carry significant risks. Beyond technical complexity, incorrectly applying a patch can create air pockets, insufficient adhesion or generate new weak spots.
